About Seattle Naturalists

Seattle Naturalists is also a growing repository of information about the Coast Salish and Pacific Northwest Maritime region. Here you’ll find local events, learn about local environmental organizations, species guides, maps, and more. Whether you’re looking for a guided nature walk, a citizen science project, a restoration volunteer day, or an education program, this is a solid start point.

Land Acknowledgement

Seattle Naturalists acknowledges that we are on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish Peoples, past and present, and we honor their ongoing relationship to this land and to the waters.

For resources on Coast Salish history, sovereignty, and ongoing stewardship, we encourage you to visit and support the tribal nations of this region directly, including the Suquamish, Muckleshoot, Snoqualmie, Duwamish, and Tulalip Tribes, among others, and native-led environmental groups working to protect these lands and waters today.

Hello! I’m Issa (she/they)

I'm a geographer, environmental scientist, and geospatial analyst by training, an illustrator and photographer by passion, and your fellow naturalist by heart.

Based in the Pacific Northwest, I created this blog to build community with other naturalists, share vivid, story-driven glimpses into the ecological life of this region, and continue growing in my own knowledge and practice.

I'm so glad you're here.
